When I started on my journey to get my weight off permanently my Life Coach told me I didn’t have to exercise. When I heard that I was all in!
I have never enjoyed exercising and to learn I could get my weight off without having to exercise I felt like I had finally found what was going to work for me and it did!!
I quickly & effortlessly drop 30 pounds and that is when I decided I wanted to become a Life Coach and help others to do the same.
Most of my clients have over 50 pounds to lose and exercise is not a priority to them.
I tell my clients to not change their activity level when they first get started on my program. Just keep doing whatever they are doing and if they currently are doing no exercise at all, that’s fine, don’t start exercising.
Once they have been on the program for a few weeks and they begin to feel better and have more energy, I suggest, if they want to start exercising, they begin with going for a short walk once a day.
Even if it is only for 5 mins, that’s a great start.
And they can increase it over time.
That is what I did and now I go for a 30-minute walk almost every day.
Whatever exercise you choose to do, make sure it is something that makes you feel good. Maybe you like dancing to your favorite music or swimming or bike riding. Whatever it is, make it convenient and something you will be able to maintain for the rest of your life.
If you love classes at the gym, then go. If you like walking, then put your walking shoes on and head out the door. If you like to bike ride pump up your tires, put on your helmet and head on down the road.
Try to find something that will beckon to you once you make it a habit. Try out lots of different exercises and see which one you LIKE and do that one, not the one you think will bring you results. Because if you don’t like it you find excuses not to do it.
The best result you will ever get from exercising is the development of a habit you can use as a tool to relieve stress and connect with your body.
So when you’re ready, use exercise as a way to give to yourself. Start giving yourself exercise without expecting anything in return.
Start giving to your body the gift of movement, health, strength, and time. Let your body know that it is worth your energy.
And remember, the best exercise is the one you will do.
